The Choir of Royal Hospital Chelsea (dir. Will Vann)

Israel in Egypt is one of Handel’s lesser performed but most exciting oratorios, a glorious work with spectacular choruses and musical effects. The celebratory Zadok the Priest was composed by Handel for the coronation of George II in 1727 and its special place in British ceremonial has been underlined by its inclusion in every coronation service since. The concert also includes, on the evening after Guy Fawkes Night, a selection of pieces from Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks!

The members of the professional Chapel Choir are drawn from a variety of musical backgrounds and are directed by William Vann, Royal Hospital organist and Director of Music, who is a professional pianist and conductor.
