East Coast Tour

Just two weeks until we jet off to Washington DC to begin the East Coast ‘Imaginations’ tour with The Eric Whitacre Singers.  The concerts are being presented by Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) and they’ve just posted a photo on their Facebook page of the concert poster outside Lincoln Centre in New York.  It’s rather cool having a picture of yourself on a poster like that!  Five concerts in four days is asking a lot, but I’m still looking forward to it.  See you on the other...

Eternal Harmony – The Sixteen (Rotterdam)

Eternal Harmony – The Sixteen (Rotterdam)

I travelled with The Sixteen to the Netherlands to perform their Eternal Harmony programme which presents music from the royal courts of the early 16th century, interspersed with exquisite works by one of our greatest modern day composers, James MacMillan.  The concert was simulcast online and can now be seen on YouTube.  I have listed the programme below:   Programme: Plainsong – Dum sacrum mysterium Carver – Gloria from Mass “Dum sacrum mysterium” MacMillan – Mitte manum tuam* Ramsey – In monte Oliveti – O vos omnes – How are the mighty fall’n MacMillan – Sedebit Dominum Rex* Tallis – Tunes for Archbishop Parker’s Psalter Interval Carver – Credo from Mass “Dum sacrum mysterium” MacMillan – Miserere* Tallis – Tunes for Archbishop Parker’s Psalter Tallis – Spem in alium Pieces marked with an * do not appear on the video....

Promotional video for Platinum Consort’s In the Dark

Promotional video for Platinum Consort’s In the Dark

The 3rd of July 2012 saw the release of Platinum’s first disc, In the Dark.  Although, it isn’t actually a disc, just a download. It’s an album produced by Resonus Classics, the first download-only Classical record label.  The fact it is just a download made it all the more impressive that we were able to secure #6 on both the iTunes and Amazon Classical charts and #13 on the official Specialist Classical Chart.  Some of the success of the album was due to Eric Whitacre very kindly Tweeting and Facebooking links to our promotional video (below). He had this to say about us: Just discovered Platinum Consort, a terrific new UK choir. Bought their latest album and am LOVING it – clean, healthy, lusty singing. Highly recommended. http://ericwhitacre.com/blog/what-im-listening-to-this-week...
